Brett Rubin, Director of Development, spearheads Saxum’s growing multifamily platform.
Brett brings nearly 20 years of real estate acquisition and development experience. During his career, he has lead and participated in the entitlement, development, and construction of over 4,500 multifamily units. Prior to joining Saxum, Brett was the Head of Development for Gemdale USA where he was responsible for leading the organization’s East Coast design, development, and construction activities. He oversaw over $2.5 billion of ground up development in New York City and Boston, which represented approximately 3.7mm SF of space.
Prior to Gemdale, Brett served in various roles at AvalonBay Communities where he was responsible for developing over 1.5mm SF of residential multifamily communities in New Jersey. Additionally, Brett was the Managing Director and Partner at Alliance Residential Company where he launched and oversaw the company’s development and acquisition activities for the New York Tri-State Region.
Brett has also been involved in transformative public-private projects, including his integral role at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) in the Planning, Design and Development Department, which was charged with leading the World Trade Center site redevelopment process and the revitalization of the surrounding Lower Manhattan areas after the tragedies of September 11, 2001. Brett acted as liaison between city, state, private, and civic organizations including the Mayor’s Office, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and the Port Authority.
Brett received his MBA degree from Harvard Business School and his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Yale University.
