Lee Samuelson, Principal and Chief Compliance Officer, leads Saxum in the creation of its joint ventures, as well as other transactional and legal matters. He advises leadership on structural, business and other issues, negotiates with opposing counsel, drafts documentation, and performs due diligence.
Beyond traditional real estate transactions, Lee has helped companies with complex matters that impact their operations, including site services agreements, spin-offs, M&A transactions, REIT transactions, downsizings/restructurings, workouts, and bankruptcies.
Previously Lee was a Partner at Holland & Knight as well as Hogan Lovells, and an associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher where he advised clients on numerous real estate related transactions on both a domestic and global scale.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Lee spent several years working in the real estate industry, and gained valuable and relevant knowledge that he continues to use today.
Lee achieved his undergraduate degree at Emory University, obtained his Masters at New York University in Real Estate Development & Finance, and received his law degree from Cornell Law School where he received an American Jurisprudence Award in Contracts. Throughout his career he has given many lectures and presentations on joint ventures at the ICSC Law Conference.
